  2. It sounded dull but it was an interesting day. I don’t remember what format they had finally landed on before this flip but The Point was a dreadful disaster. Started as an ’80s station no one wanted and I think it morphed into “Modern AC” which had failed at least three times recently. Then one day, they started playing Christmas music and attacking B101. But 8 hours later, the morning show came back in and brought in their boss. The bit went a little long and was certainly flat but as a radio listener, that really was a fun day. Then everyone went back to listening to B101 for Christmas music. And when the holidays ended, all the kids tuned back into Q102 and the rest is history. LOL.

  3. I remembered that day when it flipped. It went from the Barksy show, to Snowy 96.5, as it made fun of B101 for playing around-the-clock Christmas music. Some of those X-mas songs were crazy, like “I Farted on Santa’s Lap”. Then became the R&B station that evening, which it continues to this day.

I initially loved the Point, as I love 80’s music. But then, I notice that they play certain 80’s songs over and over, and others, they don’t play at all. I remember one time, a caller requested “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany, and the DJ thought it was some kind of joke. By that point (no pun intended), it became “the 80’s and more”.

Then when Barksy show started, and the whole 80’s thing was over, basically becoming a clone of B101. I did find him enjoyable to listen to, when driving to work.
