  1. Well, it’s the end of an era for one of the first KISS radio stations in the USA.

    • And to think!, that station was Urban (from September 1980 to December 1994 unofficially, January 1995 officially) and later Urban Adult Contemporary (until 4/30/2012). Who’d have thought that the branding “KISS” would later be associated with CHR!!?!!

Re the references to (WRKS’ former Urban Contemporary (and, later, its now-former Urban Adult Contemporary) competitor) WBLS: the latter’s owners at the time acquired WRKS’ intellectual property. Hence, former 98.7 Kiss FM deejays Lenny Green and Shaila and the Sunday morning talk show “Open Line” now on WBLS.
